Infant School

Reception, Year 1 & 2

Children on a climbing frame

Children move from Reception Class to Year 1 and Year 2 in a carefully planned progression. Taught by experienced and well qualified teachers who enjoy the support of teaching assistants, children make rapid progress during what is known as the Key Stage 1 period of their education. The small classes ensure that a great deal of individual care and attention is given to each child. Children grow quickly in confidence during this stage and many are still sufficiently lively to stay on after school and participate in one of several after school clubs. As a result, by the age of seven, they are ready to enter the Junior School as confident, well prepared children who appreciate the challenges and opportunities offered at Beech Hall.

Parents are encouraged to closely follow the progress of their child. There is daily contact with the class teacher where routine concerns can be addressed, in addition to regular Parent/Teacher meetings and a twice-yearly report.
