Our aim is to provide a safe and happy
environment where children can build a tower of sand, create
a work of art in dough, feel the sensation of paint between
their toes, learn songs that will make them laugh and find
friends in books. The Little Griffins Nursery creates an environment
in which children can flourish, grow and journey just as far
as a child’s imagination can take them.
The
activities in the ‘Little Griffins’ Nursery are
wide and varied. Indoors they can play with their favourite
toys or experience ‘messy play’ as they paint
with their fingers and feet or sculpt models in clay. They
can begin to make sense of their world through pre-school
science activities or play with sand and water. Music and
movement may capture their imagination or perhaps they will
enjoy cooking! Outside in our large private and safely fenced
garden, the children can play happily on climbing and swinging
apparatus, ride bikes or scooters or just run around burning
off that excess energy.
Education
The
Nursery aims to give children the best possible start to their
education. The children follow the DfES prescribed ‘Birth
to 3 Matters’ and progress onto Foundation Stage goals
in preparation for more formal schooling at the age of 5.
They are encouraged to develop at their own pace in a caring,
supportive atmosphere. Carefully structured play helps children
to get to grips with the fundamentals. When they are ready
the children are introduced to counting and number work. They
may start reading and writing. French is introduced and is
taught by one of our Junior School specialists. At Beech Hall
we place no ceilings on a child’s learning. As a result
many of our ‘Little Griffins’ find themselves
ahead of the game once school starts.
